Position Summary:
Oversee, under the leadership of the Youth Pastor, the student ministry at Coggin with emphasis on junior high students to help develop fully devoted followers of Christ in conjunction with parents/guardians. The Jr. High Pastor takes on the responsibility of guarding the spiritual culture and character of the students and its volunteers/staff.
Full Time / 40+ Hours per week
Reports to: Youth Pastor
Primary Job Responsibilities
- Plan, promote and develop weekly and annual programs to meet the spiritual needs of youth with emphasis on Jr. high students.
- Seek out opportunities to have spiritual conversations with both students and parents on salvation, baptism, evangelism and discipleship.
- Coordinate with parents in the development and discipleship of Jr. High students under the leadership of the youth pastor.
- Minister on school campuses and be involved in supporting students in their extracurricular activities.
- Help in the development of adults and university students as they minister to Jr. High students in conjunction with the Youth Pastor.
- Other duties and projects as assigned by the Youth Pastor or Senior Pastor.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Adult and university small group leaders in the Jr. High ministry, student leaders
Qualifications and Required Skills
- Growing believer who agrees with the Coggin’s doctrines and beliefs and is expected to have a personal lifestyle that is consistent with the mission of Coggin.
- Undergraduate degree required. Graduate degree preferred. Degrees do not have to be in Student Ministry or Christian Education as long as there are at least three years’ work experience with students and/or family ministries.
- A demonstrated passion and commitment to his own spiritual growth and of students and their families
- Stong interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate, inspire, equip and encourage others.
