About
Coggin’s Youth Ministry has been led by Ricky Cavitt since 1989. The vision for this ministry has always been and still is today, every one every week – to reach and disciple every student, every week who walks through our doors into a personal relationship with Christ. Our goal is for every student to feel seen, known, and loved and then help each of them build their faith on a strong foundation and prepare them to go out and reach other students.
In our youth program, we seek to:
- Reach and evangelize students who have no relationship with God,
- Disciple those who do have a relationship with God,
- Lead students to worship the Lord, serve others, and fellowship with one another, and
- Make disciples who make more disciples.
Adults and college students join us in the mission of discipling our students. They help us lead small groups where real and tough questions can be asked and where each student has a chance to engage. Our volunteer leaders help us do so much more in the lives of students than our staff alone could do.
Sunday Morning Bible Study
On Sunday mornings, youth meet in the CCC in Room 216 at 11:00 am for a brief large group gathering and then break off into Sunday School groups. In the groups, leaders have prepared engaging lessons for the students to help them grow in their faith and leadership skills.
180 Wednesday Night Teaching and Groups
Schedule:
- 6:00 PM – The evening starts with fellowship and games.
- 6:45 PM – Middle school meets in Room 200 with our Junior High Pastor.
High school students go up to Room 216 with Ricky Cavitt, our Youth Pastor.
After the teaching time, students break off into small groups where leaders (called Lifeguards) lead these groups in engaging conversations, listening, discipling, and investing in the students’ lives. - 8:15 PM – Students are dismissed.
- 9:00 PM – Building closes.
2025-2026 Events
Launch Box Mission Trip
This year, for Coggin Youth’s Spring Break Mission Trip, we are taking students up to San Antonio, TX to work with iGoGlobal in their Launch Box program to serve internationals and refugees. There will be training sessions and on the ground opportunities to serve.
We are so excited for this opportunity and hope that your student will join us.
We can only take 20 students and 5 adults. Spots will fill up fast, so signup right away.

Hi! My name is Ben. I love being able to be help lead student’s in their walk with God and watch them grow in their faith. I am a junior at HPU pursuing a degree in Christian Education with Emphasis in Ministry Leadership and I play on the HPU Men’s Tennis Team. In my free time, I love to hang out with friends and family, play sports, and fish.

Hello, my name is Nick Grace, I serve as a youth intern and communications intern for Coggin. I grew up in Brownwood all my life, and just recently graduated from Howard Payne University with my Bachelors of Arts in Christian Studies and I am now pursuing my Masters in Youth and Family Ministry. God has placed on my heart a call to youth ministry and right now I am having open eyes and ears to where that call may take me, but until then I am continuing to serve and love the church that I have called home for a majority of my life.

Hello! My name is Kayla and I am one of the youth interns. I am a student at Howard Payne University and can’t wait to walk alongside and witness to Coggin students helping them chase after the Lord. I love hiking, board games, and all things camp!
