KIDS MINISTRY

Imagine your kids with a grounded and authentic faith in Jesus

Coggin Kids partners with parents to make growing disciples of Jesus

Does the world make you feel like an inadequate parent?

Of course, it does. Social media, cultural changes, busy schedules, and academic and athletic pressure can get in the way of preparing them to be confident in who God made them to be and what He has called them to do.

What Parents Say

Cindy and Van Marshall share their family’s experience with Coggin Kids Ministry
My husband and I have had children in the children’s ministry at Coggin for over 15 years. I am so comfortable with them being under the leadership of Amy Brand, who leads with wisdom, compassion, and JOY! I’ve especially appreciated the opportunities she has given my children to practice servant leadership within our church. We are “blessed to be a blessing”, and I am thankful for Amy and the fantastic children’s ministry volunteers who have joined us in equipping our kiddos for Christ-like service!

Dalton and Kristen Hutchins reflect on raising their children in faith through Coggin Kids
We became members of Coggin when we were expecting our first child, and now that little boy is in the youth group and our daughter is starting her last year in the children’s ministry. As a young family navigating how to raise our children to love the Lord, we felt so blessed and equipped with help from this ministry. They not only provided opportunities for our kids to learn about Jesus and hide scripture in their hearts, but they also encouraged and supported us as parents as well. This ministry has been a springboard for our kids and allowed us to regularly serve Coggin and our community as a family. We are incredibly grateful!

Stephen and Katrina Lynn discuss the impact of the children’s ministry on their daughter’s faith
The children’s ministry at Coggin Avenue Baptist introduces biblical truths to young children and supports parents in cultivating a Christian upbringing. Stephen and I have conversations with our daughter, Brooklyn, about God and loving others as Christ loves us. We have watched Brooklyn grow in her love for Christ. We dedicated her to Christ at Coggin soon after she was born. Through involvement at church and family talks, she asked Jesus into her heart when she was 5 years old and she was recently baptized at Coggin. The Children’s Ministry plays such a big part in bringing children up in Christ alongside of the parents. Also, I have the privilege of serving in pre-school on Sundays and I enjoy getting to share Bible stories and plants seeds in their hearts of how God loves them and that Jesus died for them. The positive impact that Children’s Ministry has on children is a great reason for kids to be involved!

YOUR FIRST VISIT

While our main building is being remodeled, all services, groups, and ministries are currently meeting in the CCC (Coggin Connection Center) — the large metal and brick building on our campus. When you arrive at our building on Coggin Avenue, please enter through the Coggin Avenue doors. As soon as you step inside, you’ll see the check-in area to your left with a large Check In sign on the wall. Our Kids Ministry team will be ready to greet you, help you get checked in, and guide your children to the right classrooms. Babies, toddlers, preschoolers, abd kindergartners are in the preschool hallway, and 1st–6th graders gather in the Gym for Sunday school 9:45 or 11:00.

HOW CHECK-IN WORKS

Before the service:

Before the service, stop at the check-in table outside the preschool hallway. After finding your child’s name in the database, you and your child will be given matching name tags that are exclusive to your family. Your child will wear the name tag portion, and the corresponding tag will be given to you.

After Service:

When you return to pick up your child simply show your tag in order for your child to be released back to you.

During the Service:

In the event that we need to contact you during the service, we will send you a text message. If you receive a text, simply return to the Information Desk where you checked in your child.

PreK-6th grade Sunday School

Sunday School is an exciting opportunity for kids to learn about the Bible in a way they can understand. Each week is designed to be interactive, memorable, and impactful for every child. Students are grouped by grade and explore that week’s Bible lesson together.

We use The Gospel Project curriculum, which immerses kids and preschoolers in the gospel through every story, theological concept, and call to mission—from Genesis to Revelation. Through this journey, children discover that the Bible isn’t just a collection of stories but one unified story—God’s story of redemption.

Elevate is our Wednesday night program for kids ages 3 years – 6th grade.  Elevate uses the TeamKID curriculum and is designed for Kids In Discipleship!  It features Bible memory games and application of Bible truths, engaging missions videos and activities, and fun activity-based learning all while helping your kids grow to be more like Jesus.

Students are in age-graded, developmentally appropriate classes.  Preschoolers are in self-contained classrooms, while Kindergarten-6th graders enjoy large group Bible lessons and then rotate through activities with their grade levels.  (Grade levels are not mixed for rotations!)

There is no fee to participate in Elevate, but please register each child either online or by physical form in person!

  • WEDNESDAYS 6:00PM-7:30PM
  • CCC – Metal Building next to Main Church Building

Designed to help unleash the leadership potential of preteens.  The goal is to help preteens become ‘positively charged’ to reach the world around them for Christ, and to learn to have their ‘eye-on’ those around them to find ways to serve and lead well.

Each week, they will have a team building activity, a leadership lesson, skill training, and a challenge with reflection or process time.  We’ll take a different topic each month, talking about topics like hospitality, holiness, humility, thankfulness, prayerfulness, representing Christ, faith in God, respect for authority, and sharing God’s love.

If your son or daughter is interested in being a part of Team Ion, fill out the application form and give it or email it to Amy Brand.
