Position Summary:

The Senior Pastor & Student Ministry Assistant provides needed support to the Senior Pastor and the Student Pastor and their ministries at Coggin Avenue Baptist Church.

Full Time / 40 hours per week

Most scheduled hours are Monday through Friday during the church’s business hours. Some work is required on Sundays to assist the Senior Pastor or outside standard hours to prepare for and during large events.  Available outside regular hours for calendar or scheduling with the Pastors.

Reports to: Senior Pastor & Student Pastor

Primary Job Responsibilities

Senior Pastor Assistant:

  • A key component in this postion is anticipating, preparing, and arranging schedules, supplies, resources, etc. to meet the needs of the Senior Pastor and his schedule.
  • Arrange and keep a calendar for the Senior Pastor and provide notice to him about calendar items as requested. This calendar includes meetings with individual staff members, current and potential church members, etc. and coordination with his family’s personal calendar.
  • Provide or facilitate communication between the Senior Pastor, the church staff, church members, and others as needed.
  • Lead or assist in the planning, preparation, and accomplishment of events and holidays. The events include things like, staff trainings, church-wide events, community involvement events, etc. The holiday preparations include the Christmas schedule, decorations, and events; the Easter schedule, the Cross service, and supplies; Mother’s Day and Father’s Day recognitions.
  • Facilitate the Senior Pastor’s card writing commitment. This mostly includes reserving time in his calendar and ensuring the cards get mailed.
  • Prepare and publish the weekly newsletter. Set deadlines, coordinate with staff for information, and provide an attractive, accurate newsletter.
  • Attend the weekly staff meetings. Take notes from these meetings to look for scheduling issues and to capture information to communicate to the church, the staff, communications people, and others as needed.

Student Ministry Assistant:

  • Assist in implementing and organizing events, such as Heartbeat weekend, camps, and trips. Answer questions of students and parents about events.  Assist in preparation and gathering of paperwork, materials, and food for events, trips, and classes as requested.
  • Set up, track, and manage online registrations for events. Create graphics for registrations as needed.  Manage payment of funds for events and trips.  Communicate with participants and/or parents about funds due and deadlines.
  • Enter students in church management software. Maintain rolls for 180 and Sunday School groups for accurate group and attendance information.  Provide guest information to the Student Pastor and Jr. High Pastor weekly. Prepare  yearbooks twice a year with accurate student and group information.
  • Update the youth social media and in-house communications to promote and communicate with youth and with parents about youth events.
  • Communicate with church’s communications people about events and registrations to be shown on Coggin’s website, newsletter, and slides.
  • Attend intern meetings to have information about the student ministry’s plans. Follow up with actions resulting from these plans.
  • Prepare weekly sermon slides for the Youth Pastor and Jr. High Pastor as needed.
  • Other tasks as assigned to assist the Senior Pastor or the Student Ministry efforts.

Qualifications and Required Skills

  • Organized and efficient to complete tasks or projects on time
  • Good planning and project management skills to prepare and carry out church events and holiday recognitions
  • Good people skills to communicate and interact with others
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required
  • One year or more of related work experience preferred
  • Experience using Microsoft Office products, particularly Word and Excel
  • Ability to create and post information and pictures on social media needed

Coggin Church seeks a full‑time Senior Pastor & Student Ministry Assistant to support pastoral leadership and student ministry operations. Position Summary:

Oversee, under the leadership of the Youth Pastor, the student ministry at Coggin with emphasis on junior high students to help develop fully devoted followers of Christ in conjunction with parents/guardians. The Jr. High Pastor takes on the responsibility of guarding the spiritual culture and character of the students and its volunteers/staff.

Primary Job Responsibilities

  • Plan, promote and develop weekly and annual programs to meet the spiritual needs of youth with emphasis on Jr. high students.
  • Seek out opportunities to have spiritual conversations with both students and parents on salvation, baptism, evangelism and discipleship.
  • Coordinate with parents in the development and discipleship of Jr. High students under the leadership of the youth pastor.
  • Minister on school campuses and be involved in supporting students in their extracurricular activities.
  • Help in the development of adults and university students as they minister to Jr. High students in conjunction with the Youth Pastor.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned by the Youth Pastor or Senior Pastor.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Adult and university small group leaders in the Jr. High ministry, student leaders

Qualifications and Required Skills

  • Growing believer who agrees with the Coggin’s doctrines and beliefs and is expected to have a personal lifestyle that is consistent with the mission of Coggin.
  • Undergraduate degree required.  Graduate degree preferred.  Degrees do not have to be in Student Ministry or Christian Education as long as there are at least three years’ work experience with students and/or family ministries.
  • A demonstrated passion and commitment to his own spiritual growth and of students and their families
  • Stong interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate, inspire, equip and encourage others.

Coggin Church is hiring a Jr. High Youth Pastor to lead and disciple students in grades 6–8. This full-time role supports the broader student ministry, working closely with parents, volunteers, and the Youth Pastor to foster spiritual growth, meaningful relationships, and gospel-centered leadership. Ideal candidates are passionate about youth ministry, experienced in mentoring students, and committed to building a Christ-centered culture.
