Sunday morning Bible Study

On Sunday mornings, youth meet in the CCC in Room 216 at 9:45 am for a brief large group gathering and then break off into Sunday School groups. In the groups, leaders have prepared engaging lessons for the students to help them grow in their faith and leadership skills.

Raising an overall healthy adult can seem impossible these days.

Raising an overall healthy adult can feel overwhelming in today’s world, where challenges seem to come from every direction. As a parent, you want the best for your child, nurturing not just their physical well-being but also their emotional, mental, and spiritual health. It’s not an easy task, but remember, you’re not alone in this journey. Together, with faith and community, we can help guide our kids to become resilient, compassionate, and well-rounded adults who thrive in all aspects of life.

What Parents Say

Cindy and Van Marshall
My husband and I have had children in the children’s ministry at Coggin for over 15 years. I am so comfortable with them being under the leadership of Amy Brand, who leads with wisdom, compassion, and JOY! I’ve especially appreciated the opportunities she has given my children to practice servant leadership within our church. We are “blessed to be a blessing”, and I am thankful for Amy and the fantastic children’s ministry volunteers who have joined us in equipping our kiddos for Christ-like service!

Dalton and Kristen Hutchins
We became members of Coggin when we were expecting our first child, and now that little boy is in the youth group and our daughter is starting her last year in the children’s ministry. As a young family navigating how to raise our children to love the Lord, we felt so blessed and equipped with help from this ministry. They not only provided opportunities for our kids to learn about Jesus and hide scripture in their hearts, but they also encouraged and supported us as parents as well. This ministry has been a springboard for our kids and allowed us to regularly serve Coggin and our community as a family. We are incredibly grateful!

Stephen and Katrina Lynn
The children’s ministry at Coggin Avenue Baptist introduces biblical truths to young children and supports parents in cultivating a Christian upbringing. Stephen and I have conversations with our daughter, Brooklyn, about God and loving others as Christ loves us. We have watched Brooklyn grow in her love for Christ. We dedicated her to Christ at Coggin soon after she was born. Through involvement at church and family talks, she asked Jesus into her heart when she was 5 years old and she was recently baptized at Coggin. The Children’s Ministry plays such a big part in bringing children up in Christ alongside of the parents. Also, I have the privilege of serving in pre-school on Sundays and I enjoy getting to share Bible stories and plants seeds in their hearts of how God loves them and that Jesus died for them. The positive impact that Children’s Ministry has on children is a great reason for kids to be involved!

About

Coggin’s Student Ministry has been led by Ricky Cavitt since 1989. The vision for this ministry has always been and still is today, every one every week – to reach and disciple every student, every week who walks through our doors into a personal relationship with Christ. Our goal is for every student to feel seen, known, and loved and then help each of them build their faith on a strong foundation and prepare them to go out and reach other students.

In our youth program, we seek to:

  • Reach and evangelize students who have no relationship with God,
  • Disciple those who do have a relationship with God,
  • Lead students to worship the Lord, serve others, and fellowship with one another, and
  • Make disciples who make more disciples.

Adults and college students join us in the mission of discipling our students. They help us lead small groups where real and tough questions can be asked and where each student has a chance to engage. Our volunteer leaders help us do so much more in the lives of students than our staff alone could do.

Welcome Week

Welcome Week

It is a big transition to go from the church’s children’s program into the youth group. That’s why we love Welcome Week! Welcome Week is a week where we get to know, play games, and introduce incoming 7th Graders to the youth ministry. They’ll learn what it means to worship, study the Bible daily, walk in community with others, and be a light in their schools. They’ll also get to know our youth leaders and older students from the youth group. We hope that your student will join us!

Sondays Camp

Coggin has been attending Sondays Camp for over 20 years. It’s a summer church camp in Cedar Hill, TX, where students get a break from the world, from their phone, and from social media to focus back in on God and on each other. Every year we have an amazing speaker who challenges students in how they live out their faith and how they share that with others. Sondays Camp is one our highlights of the year and we can’t wait! We take students coming out of 7th-12th Grade.
