In a day when the arts are flourishing in the church, some might question the relevance of church choirs. While many churches have done away with choirs, we believe that the church choir is one of the most powerful and penetrating aspects of corporate worship. We seek the heart of God through passionate worship. It is our prayer that worship at Coggin bring glory to God and that He uses our time together to make, mature, and multiply disciples. If you have a heart to worship the Lord, you are welcome to join our community of worshipers. There are opportunities for children, students, adults and senior adults through the worship and arts ministry at Coggin. If you play an instrument, sing, paint, or enjoy helping others think creatively, then there is a place for you to use your gifts.
Our Ministry is based on the following principles:
II Chronicles 5:13-14: "The trumpeters and singers joined in unison, as with one voice, to give praise and thanks to the LORD. Accompanied by trumpets, cymbals, and other instruments, they raised their voices in praise to the LORD and sang, 'He is good and His love endures forever.' Then the temple of the LORD was filled with a cloud, and the priests could not perform their service because of the cloud, for the glory of the LORD filled the temple of God."
Coggin Worship Choir is an extraordinary group of people whose talents are matched only by their desire to serve the Lord by leading in worship. The Coggin Worship Choir not only leads the congregation in worship on Sunday mornings, but they also present a selection of music during the service each Sunday. Annually, the choir presents several different special concerts and productions.
If you would like to be a part of our worship choir, or have any questions, please contact the music office 325-646-1506. We sing in both am services, but only ask that you come and sing in one service (except on special occasions.)
Adult Choir Rehearsal is on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m.
Rising Shout is our choir for students in grades 7 - 12. This is a great opportunity for students who enjoy singing to learn how to hone their gifting in the context of Christian community. When voices unite for the glory of God, it helps forms us into mature disciples as we declare the excellencies of the Savior
Rising Shout meets from September to May, sings in worship once a month, and participates in an annual choir mission trip each year. Join us on Sunday at 5:00 pm in the choir room in the main building.
New Vision Singers is a choir designed for senior adults. We rehearse each Thursday at 10 am in the choir room. These singers minister in the community at local adult care centers and sing once a month in worship.
