Love Brownwood

Restoring Hope & Wholeness in Our Community

      We were both raised by parents who taught and lived out the gospel. Being taught all through our childhood that Jesus was the one true way, we both believed at the age of eight and accepted Christ as our Savior. As we each sought to grow closer to the Lord, we developed a true love for Him and a desire to follow Him whole-heartedly. We felt the Lord calling us to full time ministry, specifically missions. We had the opportunity to go on many mission trips, and those experiences, as well as each other's heart for missions, are what initially attracted us to each other. We both attended Howard Payne University where we received our bachelors degree in Cross Cultural Studies and were married a week after graduation. Through our experiences overseas, God has truly burdened our heart for people everywhere. We are thankful to have the opportunity to serve as missionaries to Brownwood, a place that we truly fell in love with while attending HPU. We are responding to God's calling on our lives and are so excited to partner with Coggin in reaching the lost in our own city.

Impact Weekend

     Impact weekend was a great success. We partnered with Baptist Student Ministries at Howard Payne University; every year they dedicate a weekend to help freshman learn about different ministry opportunities in the community. Together with our church members, we baked 600 dozen cookies and cooked around 700 burgers. We handed out cookies, invited people to our cookout, and asked about prayer needs. We were able to meet and connect with many new people in the community. We had the opportunity to plant seeds and share Jesus’ love, as people wondered why we would do such things for free. We were able to tell our neighbors that we wanted to show them that we love and care for them. Many people in our neighborhood do not hear these words very often. Some never do.
     We have begun follow-up with the people we met Impact weekend. We have had the chance to return and pray with some of those we met. Our church members are joining with us in reaching the neighborhood by committing to visit an assigned individual or family regularly and seek the Lord’s guidance for that relationship.


Tutoring Ministry

     In the upcoming months, we will begin a tutoring program for elementary-aged children in the area. We believe that education is so important in a child’s life. Children should have someone who encourages them to do better in school and rewards them for a job well done. The tutors will be certified teachers who are passionate about loving children as Jesus does.

• "Adopt a Family" - Commit to visit a family
      in the neighborhood at least twice a month
      and spend time praying/loving them.
